         Minimum visa processing time (2 working days)

Please be informed that the Consulate accepts only cash (exact amount), money order or bank cheque.


Instruction

  1. The application form must be completed and submitted together with the passport and one passport-sized photograph taken within 6-month period.
  2. The passport must be in order and valid for Thailand.

  3. Holders of valid passports of some countries, including Australia, on transit through Thailand may spend up to 30 days in the country without visa provided that they have confirmed traveling reservation out of Thailand within that period. Their passports and tickets must be shown to the Immigration Officer at the point of entry.

  4. Type of visa issued:
    1. Transit Visa - for transit purpose and flight connection only, a confirmed ticket out of Thailand is required.
    2. Tourist Visa - for tourists, good for 60 days in Thailand
    3. Non-Immigrant Visa - good for 90 days in Thailand. A supporting letter is required. For a stay of more than 90 days, a prior approval from the Thai Immigration authorities in Bangkok, which may take up to 3 months, is needed.
    4. Immigrant Visa - requiring prior authorization from the Thai Immigration authorities in Bangkok. Expenses incurred are to be borne by the applicant. A quota system applies and length of processing depends on availability of quota. For this type of visa, guarantor and his/her address in Thailand are required (only Australian nationals or others upon bilateral agreements).
    5. Official Visa - an official explanatory letter is required.

  5. A visa must be utilized within 3 months from the date issued. It is good for one entry only. However, two entries may be granted upon request and at the discretion of the Consulate-General.

  6. Visa Fees (as of 26 August 2003) :
    • Transit Visa - $35 for each entry
    • Tourist Visa - $45 for each entry
    • Non-Immigrant Visa - $90 for single entry or multiple entry $225 to be utilized within one year
  1. If the applicant wants his/her passport returned by post (in Australia) a prepaid self-addressed express-post envelope is required for each passport, otherwise it could be collected at the Consulate-General.
